Just a quick note to thankyou for my recent lesson.

Your suggestion to hold back, in terms of weight distribution, onto my right side was excellent advice! Which together with more control, rather than an initial fast club head speed certainly worked to great effect. Ten pars on The Blue Course at Friford last Thursday which resulted in three under my handicap was proof indeed.

Look forward to the next lesson, thanks mate,

Regards

John Gregory.

I go through ups and downs on the golf course but since Ben gave me a lesson I have had successfully changed my swing. The results were a string of rounds... 35, 38, 39, 35, 37 stableford points a huge improvement from before when 25 pts was a good day!

We worked on 1 simple change and I have a good understanding of where my swing needs to be to keep me on track.

Many thanks,

Brian Bullen

Every now and then my game goes off but as always Ben sorts me out. This time was urgent so I booked up a lesson with the master at a bright & early 7:30AM !!

We worked on a few things in my Setup and Shoulder Plane, and I soon got back into the groove of hitting it pure and flush.

The next day i had 43 points off 8 and dropped 2 shots off my handicap with the help of the master, Ben Beard. Cheeeeeers!

A new golf year is always exciting but not if you are struggling with aspects of your game. I decided to try and get some of my problems resolved and hearing good reports about Ben Beard and watching him take my son for lessons, I was keen to book some for myself.

I found Ben's approach and methods made good sense and understanding. He also changed my frame of mind and got me to relax and enjoy the game more.

Thanks to Ben I recently managed to win a men's competition which I never before believed i could achieve. So if like me, you are thinking about lessons, why not give it a go with Ben Beard.

Ben is a very personable, friendly, young golf professional. I found his golf lessons extremely useful. He also gave some group lessons for our ladies and these worked out very well and were much appreciated. He’s very positive and works to get the best from each individual golfer, appropriate to their age and ability. He helped me to have the confidence to use a driver.

Ben organised some group lessons for our bronze league team members and I think everyone agreed that these improved our skill, knowledge and attitude.

One memorable lesson was a putting lesson and I’m absolutely sure that this improved my putting, which probably contributed to me dropping two shots from my handicap (now 21).

Ben gave my five-year old granddaughter her first (and so far her only) short, impromptu golf lesson and he was so kind and encouraging and I feel that it was a very good start in golf for her.

Like most Golfers I have my ups and downs, although recently the downs had been far too frequent! So when I had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Ben on “The Cornerstones of Golf Psychology” I decided to give it a go.

What had I got to lose? Well after attending the session, 4 days later I scored 41 stableford points, won the competition and had my handicap reduced from 28 to 26.

Ben’s approach to golf psychology covered mental attitude, goal setting, player profiling, strengths and weaknesses, and at looking at the importance of positivity and self belief – no matter how difficult the situation!

I know that I won’t play well every day, but I will approach my golf in a more focussed, organised and confident way.

Thanks Ben

I have arranged several Family Learning Weeks for the ten schools in the Burford Partnership. The young people involved range in age from 5 to 18 and have the opportunity to learn a new skill and have fun as a family. Ben has been hugely supportive of this project running workshops for many families including those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

The feedback has always been very positive. Families have had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and the quality and dedication that Ben brings to his teaching.

Two students who took part in the Family Learning Project have also chosen to use additional activity funding to work with Ben further and continue their learning. It is a testament to Ben's work that families come back year after year and his courses are always oversubscribed.

He has made a huge effort to make what can be perceived as a sport for a few into an activity that all, regardless of background or experience, can participate in and enjoy.

I have no hesitation in recommending Ben as a Golf Coach.

Ben gives clear and direct teaching. A great explanation of what you're trying to achieve and why it will benefit your game.

Ben links exercises to other areas of coaching that you've been learning, giving you a more complete game.

Excellent teaching that has the results to back it up.

Ben's mental coaching has made me have more confidence on the course and also outside of golf. My game is improving due to the training and will continue to do so, as psychology training and game coaching come together to create the most effective training you can get.

With the golf season up and running and my exam period over, I have recently had a series of 5 lessons with Ben Beard at Burford Golf Club. I had lessons in order to improve my short game to reduce my handicap from 12. I found that Ben was a fantastic tutor as he gave me a series of ways to improve my technique and has given me greater confidence around the green.

Ben has also been encouraging more juniors to take part in golf by setting up a series of group sessions for the Burford junior members.

Ben has recently put in a huge effort to improve the way that we think before, during and after our rounds of golf. With the successful introduction of the golf psychology lessons set up by Ben this year, he has helped around 10 of the juniors by running a course of 8 golf psychology lessons to lead up to the start of the golfing season.

Ben is not only a great coach but is a really nice guy and a great asset to the club.

On behalf of all the juniors, I would like to thank Ben for his commitment to the club which has resulted in a very positive start to the season.

Joe Townsend
